Chocolate cake

6 tbs | unsweetened cocoa powder |
3/4 cup | hot water |
1 1/2 cups | sugar |
1 1/2 cups | all purpose flour |
1 1/4 tsp | baking soda |
1/4 tsp plus 1/8 tsp | salt |
3/4 cup | buttermilk |
2 large | eggs |
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon | vegetable oil |
1/2 tsp | vanilla extract |
1- preheat oven to 350. Butter and lightly flour a 9 inch cake pan, knocking out the excess flour, and set aside.
2- place the cocoa in a medium bowl and slowly add the hot water, whisking to
Dissolve. Set aside.
3- sift together the sugar, flour, baking soda, and salt into a large mixing bowl
And set aside . In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk , eggs, oil, and vanilla
Until well combined. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and fold in the cocoa. Stir just until all the ingredients are combined.
4- pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake until set in the center and a tester comes out clean, about 20 minutes.
5- cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to finish cooling.
