Kathleen's Art Cafe Herbed Biscuits November 2010 11:33 PM Ingredients | |
6 tablespoons | melted butter |
3 cups | self-rising flour |
¼ cup | chopped parsley |
¼ cup | chopped green onions |
1/3 cup | unsalted butter, chilled and cut into pieces |
1 ¼ cups | buttermilk |
Directions
Preheat oven to 425 F. Melt butter and allow to cool slightly. Measure out flour, parsley and green onions; place in mixing bowl. Mix with fork or pastry cutter.
Cut cold butter into flour-herb mixture until it resembles oatmeal. Use pastry cutter or 2 knives to accomplish this.
Add buttermilk and mix until dough becomes a ball. Do not over-mix. Flour pastry board and knead dough a few times until smooth. Roll out dough to 1 ½ -inch thickness.
Cut biscuits, place separately on greased or parchment-lined cookie sheet and brush each with melted butter. Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Makes about 8 to 12 biscuits depending on size.
