Spaghetti Sauce

1 tablespoon | olive oil |
1 small | onion, chopped |
3 | garlic cloves, minced |
8 ounces | Italian turkey sausage, bulk or casing removed |
1 (14 ounce) can | reduced sodium beef broth |
1 (28 ounce) can | crushed tomatoes |
1 (6 ounce) can | tomato paste |
2 teaspoon | sugar |
1 1/2 teaspoon | dried basil |
1 1/2 teaspoon | oregano |
1/4 teaspoon | black pepper |
In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium high heat. Add the onion and sauté for 2 minutes, or until tender. Add the garlic and sausage and cook until meat is slightly browned. Deglaze the pan by pouring in the beef broth and scraping the brown bits from the bottom. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, herbs and pepper. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
