White Rice in the Electric Pressure Cooker (Cuisinart) Categories: Side Dish|Ingredient|Cereals
Nb persons: 11
Yield: 1 cup
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Total time: 30 minutes
Source: Cuisinart

4 cups  white rice, long grain basmati suggested
    5 cups  water
    2 Tbsp  butter
      oil, alternative

This recipe includes instructions for my Cuisinart Pressure Cooker, which I love, so I don't have to consult the instruction book every time. (It makes amazing rice)

Put ingredients into assembled pressure cooker and close and lock lid.

Press menu button and select the correct menu function. Press Time to select number of minutes, once cooking time is programmed, press START/CANCEL to start cooking process.

When full pressure is reached, red light in the lower right hand corner of the LED will stop flashing and remain lit. Pressure cooking will begin and the timer will start to count down.

For white rice, cook for 3 minutes on high pressure follwed by 7 minutes on natural pressure release, then quick pressure release if any pressure remains.

Natural pressure release: Following pressure cooking, allow the unit to remain on keep warm. The pressure will begin to drop - time for pressure to drop will depend on the amount of liquid in the pressure cooker and the length of time that pressure was maintained. During this time cooking continues. When pressure is fully released, the float (pressure indicator) will drop and the lid will unlock to open.

Quick pressure release: Following pressure cooking you will hear a series of beeps indicating the process has finished. Turn off and pull the handle of the pressure limit valve forward. Do not touch with your hand. Use tongs or another tool (hot).

Do not fill past halfway mark when cooking white rice.

(cooking pot of pressure cooker is dishwasher safe. Everything else is hand wash only.)
