For the Shrimp: | |
3 cans | cheap beer |
3 cans | water |
2 Tbsp | pickling spice |
1 Tbsp | celery seed |
½ Tbsp | garlic powder |
3 Tbsp | Old Bay Seasoning |
3 lbs | raw shrimp |
For the Cocktail Sauce: approx 2 cup ketchup | |
horseradish to taste | |
scant 1/4 tsp lemon juice abt 2 T juice from cooking the shrimp Directions: For the Shrimp: Add all liquid ingredients -bring to boil Add seasonings-bring to boil Add shrimp and bring ALMOST to a boil. Just prior to the boil starting the shrimp should be done. Do not judge by color. Empty into a colander and cool quickly. TIP: I layer ice cubes and shrimp and drain often. Refrigerate until ready to eat-do not allow shrimp to lay in moisture. 5#=pickling 3T +1 tsp 4#=pickling 2T+1/2tsp celery 1 T + 2 tsp celery 1 T + 1/4 tsp g.p= 1/2 T + 1/3 tsp gp 1/2 T +1/8 tsp old bay 3 T + 2 T old bay 3T+3/4 tsp 1#=2 tsp.
