Angel Food Cake (Grandma Israelsen)

1 1/3 cup | egg whites, (approx. 1 doz eggs) |
1 1/3 tsp | cream of tartar |
1/2 tsp | salt |
1 1/2 cup | sugar |
1 1/2 tsp | flavoring |
1 cup | sifted flour |
Beat egg whites until frothy. Beat in cream of tartar and salt. Continue beating until egg whites are glossy and will stand up stiffly. Measure sugar and gradually beat in 1 cup of sugar and flavoring. Gently fold in flour (which has been sifted three times) with reamining 1/2 cup sugar. Bake in ungreased tube-centered pan for 1 hour at 375 degrees. Invert pan until cake is entirely cold.
