OATMEAL BREAD. MOM'S. VERY GOOD

2 c | milk. 1/3 c molasses |
1 c | uncooked oatmeal 1 pkg yeast |
2 t | salt. 1/4 c warm water |
1 T | lard. 2 c flour |
4 c | flour |
Scald milk & add the oatmeal, salt, & lard. Let set for 1/2 hour & add the molasses, stir well. Add yeast which has been dissolved in the warm water. Add 2 c flour & stir in well. Add rest of flour to make a moderately stiff dough.
Kneed well & let rise for 1 1/2 hours. Punch down & let rise for 45 minutes. Shape into 2 large or 3 small loaves. Let rise for 1 hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Brush with melted butter half way through baking
