Hearty Borscht | |
1 Pound | Burger |
1 Medium | Onion |
2 Medium | Carrots, Sliced |
1 Stalk | Celery, Sliced |
1 | Bay Leaf |
3 Medium | Beets, (Slice 2 and shred 1) |
1 Pint | Canned Tomatoes |
1/2 Head | Cabbage, Shredded |
Salt | |
Pepper to Taste | |
1 1/2 Teaspoons | Sugar |
1 Tablespoon | Cider Vinegar |
Sour Cream | |
Water |
Brown the burger with the onion, add remaining ingredients except cabbage vinegar and sour cream. Add 1-2 cups of water depending on how thick you like your soup. Simmer for 20 minutes then add cabbage and cook about 15 minutes longer or until cabbage is soft. Stir in vinegar and serve with sour cream. ( This is an approximate cooking time )
