1/2 cup sugar, pinch of salt, 2 eggs, 1 tsp baking powder, 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup sweet milk, 1 cup sour cherries

Grease and flour an 8 or 9 inch round cake pan. Mix sugar, salt and eggs. In a separate bowl sift flour and baking powder. Alternate adding milk and flour to sugar/egg mixture. Fold in cherries. Spread into prepared pan and bake until golden brown about 45 minutes.
