Source: Grandma Joanie and Mom
16oz | canned pork and beans |
1/4 cup | ketchup |
1/8t | mustard, prepared, (optional) |
1/2cup | brown sugar |
2slices | bacon, fried and broken up (optional) |
1 | red onion , small chopped (optional) |
Heat beans in a pot. When warm (but not necessarily warm enough to eat) add the brown sugar a little at a time and mix until desolved. Then add ketchup also a little at a time and mix thoutoughly. (Add optional items.) Taste. If needed, add a little more of each (brown sugar and ketchip). If it's not quite tasting right, but you can't decide which it needs (ketchup or brown sugar) I keep adding brown sugar until I get a sense of "Oh, now that tastes good." or "Oh, it definitely needs more ketchup!"
This is just a variation of the original "BAKED BAKED BEANS" for easy dinner side dish! To do the actual Baked Baked Beans follow this same recipe but with a huge can of beans increasing other ingredients accordingly. Bake at 250ºƒ for 8 to 10 hours.
