French Toast Casserole

    1 loaf (10 oz)  French bread cut into 1 inch cubes
    8  eggs
    3 cups  milk
    4 tsps  sugar
    1 tsp  vanilla extract
    3/4  salt
Topping:
    2 TB  butter
    3 TB  sugar
    2 tsps  cinnamon
    1/2 tsp  nutmeg

Place bread cubes in a buttered 13X9 baking dish.
Mix eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt. Pour over bread. Cover and place in fridge for 8 hours or overnight. Remove 30 minutes before baking. Dot with butter. Combine remaining sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and sprinkle over top.
Cover and bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until knife comes out clean. Serve with syrup and fruit.
