Homemade strawberry cake

2 cups | white sugar |
1(3 ounces) | strawberry jello |
1 cup | butter |
4 | eggs |
2 3/4 cup | sifted cake flour |
2 1/2 tsp | baking powder |
1 cup | milk |
1 tsp | vanilla |
1/2 cup | strawberry purée, ( frozen sweetened strawberries) |
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 2 9 inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl cream butter sugar and dry jello until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time mixing well after each egg. Combine flour and baking powder. Stir into batter alternating with milk. Blend in vanilla and strawberry purée. Divide evenly between the two pans.
Bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool cakes in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pans and cool completely. Place single layer on server and frost with your choice of frosting . I like strawberry. Place second layer on top and frost the top and sides.
