Peanut Blossoms

| 1 3/4 cups | flour |
| 1 teaspoon | baking soda |
| 1/2 teaspoon | salt |
| 1/2 cup | sugar |
| 1/2 cup | brown sugar |
| 1/2 cup | shortening |
| 1/2 cup | peanut butter |
| 1 | egg |
| 2 tablespoons | milk |
| 1 teaspoon | vanilla extract |
| 48 | chocolate kisses |
Preheat oven to 375°
In large mixing bowl combine all ingredients except candy kisses. Blend well with mixer.
Shape into balls using a rounded teaspoon for each. Roll balls in additional sugar; place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 10-12 mintues. Remove from oven. Top each cookie immediately with a candy kiss, pressing down firmly so cookie cracks around edge.
*Use colored sugar for an added holiday look.
