1 cup | vegetable oil |
3 | eggs |
1 cup | sugar |
1 tablespoon | vanilla |
1 | whole lemon, zest of |
3½ cups | flour, sifted |
¼ teaspoon | nutmeg |
¼ teaspoon | cinnamon |
¼ teaspoon | cloves |
¼ teaspoon | salt |
2 teaspoons | baking powder |
1 cup | almonds, chopped and toasted |
½ cup | sugar |
1½ teaspoons | cinnamon |
Preheat oven to 350?F.
Combine oil, eggs, honey, vanilla, and lemon rind in mixer. Add flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and baking powder. Add nuts, and mix thoroughly. Grease baking pan sheet, divide dough in 5 parts to make 5 loaves. Use oiled hands to shape (mold high). Leave space between.
Bake 18 to 20 minutes, until light brown, remove from oven, cut in slices. Turn on side and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon mixture. Rebake 10 minutes more, leave in oven, with oven off, until cool.
