Opera fudge. (Karla 's -good)

Opera Fudge | |
1 lb | butter |
4 lbs | sugar |
1 large and 1 small can | carnation milk |
1 pint | white karo syrup |
1 tsp | salt |
1 lb | pecans |
1 tablespoon | vanilla |
In large heavy pan melt butter then add rest of ingredients except vanilla. Bring to boil, turn down heat, and simmer for 1 hour (if I think it didn't simmer hard enough I let I go little longer.)
Then remove from heat and pour vanilla on top, but do not stir in. Let candy set for 1 hour (little longer won't hurt) then start stirring. I normally put into kitchen aid mixer using dough hook & stir until ready to set up. You can do stirring by hand but takes awhile.
I have jelly roll pan, & cake pan buttered. If u like thicker candy use less pans.
