Clessies Sour Cream Cookies

Cookie | |
3 cups | sugar |
1 cup | shortening |
4 | eggs, room temperature |
2 teaspoons | vanilla |
2 cups | sour cream |
1 teaspoon | salt |
4 teaspoons | baking powder |
1½ teaspoons | soda |
1 teaspoon | nutmeg |
6 cups | flour, (Pillsbury) |
Topping | |
½ teaspoon | nutmeg |
3 tablespoons | sugar, (for topping) |
Cookie
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs singly, beat well. Stir in vanilla and sour cream. Combine salt baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg and flour. Stir in to make soft dough (may need a little more flavor). Put in refrigerator and chill well.
Roll gently to ½-inch thick and cut with 2½-inch round cutter. Combine nutmeg and sugar and sprinkle on top of cookies.
Bake at 375?F on a lightly greased cookie sheet until lightly browned (about 8 to 10 minutes). Cookies will be soft and cakelike.
You can eliminate the topping and glaze or frost.
Bake at 375?F for 8-10 minutes.
