4 cups | walnuts, finely chopped |
1 cup | white sugar |
cinnamon to taste | |
honey | |
1 pound | phyllo dough |
¾ pound | butter, melted |
Preheat oven 325?-350?F.
Butter sides and bottom of a 9x13-inch pan. Mix walnuts with sugar and cinnamon. Open phyllo dough; keep unused dough covered with a damp cloth. Layer phyllo dough and nut mixture as follows: put down a layer of phyllo dough, brush top of dough with butter, add nuts, repeat until pan is filled.
Cut into diagonals (diamond-shaped) before baking.
Bake until lightly brown on top, anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes. It usually takes about 1 hour.
Take form oven and while still hot, pour honey over the top and let stand until it cools.
