Source:

1 1/2 cup  fresh apples, sliced
    1/2 tsp  cinnamon
    1 tbsp  sugar
    1 tbsp  flour
    1/4 cup  dried cranberries, (optional)
    1/4 cup  macadamian nuts, chopped
    2 tbsp  brown sugar
    1 tbsp  white sugar
    1 tbsp  quick oats
    1  puff pastry package
    1  egg
1-2 tbsp  butter, room temp & very soft

Pre-heat oven at 375 degrees F. Adjust rack to lower third of oven.

1. Mix the sliced apples, cinnamon, sugar and flour. Add the cranberries.

2. In a small bowl mix the macadamian nuts, sugars and oats.

3. Put puff pastry on a well floured surface. Place more flour on top of the pastry. With your rolling pin, make a rectangle shape until you reach 1/8" thick.

4. Nice side should be facing down when assembling struddel.

5. Brush/spread softened butter onto ugly side of pastry (facing up).

6. Put sugar mix down on just 2/3 of the dough. Put apple mix on the bottom 1/3, leaving a 2 inch space on the bottom and sides!

7. Fold-roll the pastry 3 times, creating a log shape. See video at: http://video.about.com/germanfood/Quick-and-Easy-Strudel.htm

8. Place struddel on baking sheet (w/ silplat). Slice the top every inch to vent. Combine egg with a bit of water. Brush well egg wash the top of the struddel.

9. Bake struddel at 375 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
