Steamed Toffee Pudding

8 Ounces | Pitted Dates |
1 | Vanilla |
1 Teaspoon | Baking Soda |
4 Tablespoon | Unsalted Butter |
1 Cup | Sugar |
1 | Egg |
3/4 Cup + 2tablespoons | Ap Flour |
1 Teaspoon | Baking Powder |
1/2 Teaspoon | Salt |
Blanch dates. Chop in robo coupe, add 1 cup of water. Warm to a simmer and add vanilla, remove from heat and add baking soda. Cream butter with sugar, add egg. Combine dry ingredients, add 1/3 alternating with 1/3 date puree. Bake in steam bath, 325 for 45 minutes. Poke holes in cake and and pour sauce into top of cake. Bake another 30 minutes or until sauce has caramelized and cake becomes firm.
