BARS - Rich chocolate chip toffee

2 1/3 c | flour |
2/3 c | packed light brown sugar |
3/4 c (1 1/2 sticks) | butter |

1 | egg, lightly beaten |
2 c | chocolate chips, divided |
1 c | coarsely chopped nuts |
1 can | sweetened condensed milk |
1 1/3 c (8 oz) | pkg heath toffee bits, divided |
Heat oven to 350. Grease 13 x 9 inch pan.
Combine flour and brown sugar in large bowl. Cut butter into flour mixture with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add egg; mix well. Stir in 1 1/2 c chocolate chips and all of the nuts. Set aside 1 1/2 c of this crumb mixture.
Press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom of prepared pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Pour condensed milk evenly over hot crust. Set aside 1/4 c toffee bits. Sprinkle the remaining toffee bits over the sweetened condensed milk. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture and remaining 1/2 c chocolate chips over top.
Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Top with reserved toffee bits. Cool completely in pan. Cut into bars. Makes 48 bars.
