Praline French Toast

8 large | eggs, beaten |
1 1/2 c. | half and half |
1 Tb. | brown sugar |
2 tsp. | vanilla extract |
8 (1" thick) slices | French bread |
1/2 c. | butter |
3/4 c. | packed brown sugar |
1/2 c. | maple syrup |
3/4 c. | chopped pecans, toasted |
Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl, stirring with a wire whisk until blended. Pour 1 cup egg mixture into a greased 13x9" baking dish. Place bread in dish; pour remaining egg mixture over bread. Cover and chill 8 hours. The next morning, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat; add brown sugar and maple syrup, stirring until smooth. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 1 minute, stirring constantly. Stir in pecans. Pour over French bread slices in baking dish. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until set and golden.
