Stuffed Sausage and Garlic Roll

1-(16 oz.) loaf frozen white bread dough | |
1 Lb. | Italian sausage, crumbled (can use spicy or hot for more flavor) |
10 cloves | garlic, chopped fine |
2 | Green onions, chopped |
1/2 Tsp. | salt |
1/8 Tsp. | black pepper |
1 Medium | green bell pepper, chopped |
2 | Ripe plum tomatoes, chopped |
2 Tbsp. | fresh basil leaves |
1/4 Cup | grated Romano |

1 | Egg beaten |
1Tbsp. | Water |
Makes 6-8 servings
Place loaf of frozen dough in plastic bag. Let thaw over night in fridge or room temperature for 2 hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown sausage meat in large skillet. Add garlic, green onion, salt, pepper, and cook for 2 minutes. On floured surface, roll bread dough into a 10x12 rectangle and place on a greased jelly roll pan. Cover with sausage mixture in an even layer. Top with bell pepper, tomato, basil, and cheese. Roll up tightly, pinch edges shut and center on pan seam side down. Mix egg with water, brush over roll. Bake 4045 minutes before cutting into 1" thick diagonal slices.
