2 CUPS | GF FLOUR MIX |
1 TBLSP | SUGAR |
4 TSP | BAKING POWDER |
1 TSP | BAKING SODA |
½ TSP | SALT |
½ CUP | SHORTENING |
1 | EGG, BEATEN |
2/3 CUP | MILK |
Sift dry ingredients together: cut in shortening until mixture resembles course crumbs. Combine egg and milk, and add to flour mixture all at once. Stir until dough follows a fork around the bowl. If dough is too dry add a bit more milk. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, knead gently with heel of hand about 20 strokes. Roll dough to ¾ inch thickness, cut with 2 inch diameter cutter, dipped on flour. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in hot over - 400?F – for 10 – 14 minutes or until golden brown. Makes two dozen biscuits.
To make cheese biscuits, add 1/3 cup shredded cheese on dry ingredients before adding liquid.
I used Celimix white bread mix.
