Italian Cookies - Anisette

8 cups | flour |
2 cups | sugar |
6 Tbsp | baking powder |
2 tsp | salt |
1 1/3 cups | shortening |
12 | eggs |
6 tsp | anise extract |
4 cups | confectionary sugar |
8 Tbsp | milk |
1 tsp | almond extract |
Food coloring of your choice
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Grease cookie sheets
Sift dry ingredients into bowl
Work in shortening, unbeaten eggs and anise extract
Dump dough onto floured board and knead until smooth ... Work a little flour if sticky
Roll dough about 1/4 inches thick and cut with cookie cutter
Bake 10-15 minutes until golden with color
Make 16 dozen cookies
While cookies are still warm, glaze with a mixture of 4 cups confectionary sugar, 8 Tbsp milk, 1 tsp almond extract and food coloring.
