Incredible Broccoli Cheese Soup

1 (10 oz.) | frozen chopped broccoli |
3 Tb. | butter |
1/4 | onion, finely chopped |
1/4 c. | flour |
1 (16 oz.) | half and half |
1 (14 oz.) | chicken broth |
1/2 tsp. | salt |
1/4 tsp. | pepper |
1/8 tsp. | cayenne pepper |
1/2 tsp. | summer savory |
1/2 lb. | mild Mexican Velveeta cheese, cubed |
Microwave broccoli 5 minutes, turn and cook 4 mintues. In a large saucepan, melt butter and saute onion; do not brown. Add flour, stir, then gradually add half and half, chicken broth and seasonings. Stirring constantly, heat unitl mixture has thickened slightly. Do NOT let come to a boil. Add cheese and heat while stirring until cheese melts. Add cooked broccoli.
