Hot Buttered Cider

Spice Mixture: | |
1/2 c. | unsalted butter |
1 1/2 c. | light brown sugar |
1/4 tsp. each | ground cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and cloves |
For each serving: | |
1 c. | apple cider |
1 oz. | dark rum, opt. |
1 | cinnamon stick, for garnish |
Spice Mixture: Cream butter and brown sugar in a small bowl. Blend in spices. Transfer to a jar. Cover and refrigerate til ready to use (keeps indefinitely.)
For each serving: Place a Tb. of the spice mixture in a 10 oz. clear glass heat-proof mug. Heat the cider until it is very hot. Pour the rum (is using), then the hot cider into the mug. Garnish with the cinnamon stick.
