Beef soup with vegetables

    2 lb  beef brisket
    1  carrot
    1/2 head  cabbage
    3 spears  asparagus
    1 stalk  celery
    1 small bunch  parsley
    1 small  onion
    1/2 cup  string beans
    1/2 cup  spinach
    1/2 cup  peas
    1 can  tomatoes
    1  bay leaf
    1 pinch  dried thyme
    1 pinch  dried oregano
      Salt
      pepper to taste
Put beef in large popover with cold water and bowl 1/2 hour. Cut all vegetables in 1 inch chunks. Skim pot and add all vegetables and all other ingredients. Simmer slowly 3 hours. Remove bay leaf and serve with horseradish.
