Fresh Apple Cake with Butter Sauce

2 c. | flour |
2 tsp. | baking soda |
2 tsp. | nutmeg |
2 tsp. | cinnamon |
1/2 tsp. | salt |
1 stick | unsalted butter, softened |
2 c. | sugar |
3 | eggs |
5 c. | Red Delicious apples, chopped, peeled |
1 c. | chopped pecans |
Butter Sauce: | |
1 c. | unsalted butter |
1 (12 oz.) can | evaporated milk |
1 (1 lb.) | powdered sugar |
2 Tb. | vanilla |
Preheat 350 degrees. Sift 1st 5 ingredients together. Cream butter and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add the eggs and beat untill light and fluffy. Add flour mixture gradually, beating well after each addition. Fold in apples and pecans. Spoon into a greased and flour 10" Bundt pan. Bake 50 minutes or til pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Invert onto wire rack to cool. Melt butter in saucepan and stir in evaporated milk, powdered sugar and vanilla. Bring to a boil. Cut cake into slices and spoon sauce over cake.
