2 1/2 C | sugar |
1/2 C | white corn syrup |
1/4 tsp | salt |
1/2 C | water |
2 | egg whites |
1 tsp | vanilla |
Combine sugar, corn syrup, salt, and water in a saucepan. cook over medium high heat until hard ball stage or 260 on candy thermometer. Stir only until sugar dissolves. Meatnwhile, beat egg whites to stiff peaks. Pour hot syrup over egg whites and beat on high speed. Add vanilla. Continue beating until candy holds it's shape (5-10minutes). Add food coloring or nuts as desired.
Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Makes about 40.
