1/2 c. | butter |
1 c. | water |
1 pkg. | active dry yeast |
1/2 c. | warm water, (105-115 degrees) |
1/2 c. | sugar |
3/4 tsp. | salt |
2 large | eggs, lightly beaten |
1 c. | whole wheat flour |
4 c. | all-purpose flour |
2 Tb. | butter, melted |
Combine 1/2 c.butter and 1 c. water in a large glass mixing bowl. Microwave on HIGH 2-3 minutes; sitr until butter melts. Cool mixture to 105-115 degrees. Combine yeast and 1/2 c. warm water in a 1 c.liquid measuring cup; let stand 5 minutes. Add yeast mixture, sugar, salt and eggs to butter mixture, stirring well. Gradually stir in whole wheat flour. Sitr in enough all-purpose flour to make a soft dough. Cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface, and knead 2 or 3 times. Roll to 3/4" thickness; cut iwth a 2" round cutter, and place on lightly greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise in a warm place (85 degrees), free from drafts, about 40 minutes or until doubled in bulk. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush with butter.
