Shortbread

1/2 Lb | butter, softened,, (no substitutes) |
1 1/2 tsp | vanilla |
2 cups | flour |
3/4 | sugar |
Cream butter and vanilla. Add flour and sugar: blend well. Press dough in an 8inch square or pie pan ungreased. Prick dough all over with a fork. Bake 35-40 minutes in a 325* oven. Do not over bake. While hot, cut into squares or wedges, leave in pan until cooled.
I always double this recipe and use a 9X13 pan.
