Chocolate Caramel Layer Squares

1 (14 oz.) pkg. | caramels |
2/3 c. | evaporated milk, divided |
1 pkg. | German Chocolate cake mix |
3/4 c. | butter, softened |
1 c. | chopped pecans |
6 oz. (1 c.) | chocolate chips |
Combine caramels and 1/3 c. evaporated milk; melt together. Combine cake mix with 1/3 c. evaporated milk and butter with mixer, and nuts; press half of batter into pan. Cook a few minutes at 350 degrees. Sprinkle chocolate chips over crust. Pour caramel mixture over mixture and crumble remaining cake mixture over caramels. cook for 10-12 minutes.
