    2 cups  flour
    1 1/2 cups  sugar
    1 teaspoon  salt
    1 teaspoon  baking soda
    1 teaspoon  ground cloves
    1 teaspoon  ground nutmeg
    1 teaspoon  ground cinnamon
    3 large  eggs, lightly beaten
    1 cup  vegetable oil
    1 cup  buttermilk
    1 teaspoon  vanilla extract
    1 cup  chopped figs
    1 cup  chopped pecans, (optional)

Stir first 7 ingredients; stir in egg, oil, and buttermilk, blend well. Stir in vanilla. Fold in figs and, if desired, pecan. Pour into greased and floured 13x9 inch pan.
Bake 325 for 35 minutes
