    3/4 cup(s)  shortening
    1 cup(s)  sugar
    2 tsp  soda
    1/4 cup(s)  light molasses
    2 cup(s)  flour
    1/2 tsp  salt
    1 tsp  ginger
    1/2 tsp  cloves
    1 tsp  cinnamon
    1/2 tsp  nutmeg
    1  beaten egg

Cream shortening and sugar. Dissolve soda in light molasses. Add egg to
creamed mixture and blend. Blend the dry ing. Gradually add to creamed
mixture and combine thoroughly. Turn dough out and roll.into small balls
. Bake 15 min at 350
