Chana Masala Ingredients | |
4 14oz cans | garbanzo beans |
2 tblspns chana masala mix | |
1 tsp | turmeric |
3 medium | size tomatoes |
1 bunch | cilantro |
4 | potatoes, (peel, cube and boil for 10mins with salt) |
*1 tblspn tamarind paste or substitute with 1 lemon
Directions
Mix the masala mix and turmeric with approx 3 tblspns of water enough to make a paste out of it, not to thick or to thin. Puree the tomatoes with the cilantro in a blender. Fry the masala paste for about 2 – 3 mins on medium heat then add the puree mix along with the garbanzo beans and salt to taste. Simmer for about 10mins and then add boiled potatoes and cook for another 10 mins or so until potatoes are tender. Add the tamarind paste or squeeze lemon and garnish with cilantro. Ready to serve.
*Tamarind paste can be bought at an Indian store or maybe Middle Eastern store.
