| 1 cup (2 sticks) | unsalted butter, softened |
| 1 1/2 cups | sugar |
| 1 | egg |
| 1 1/2 teaspoon | vanilla extract |
| 2 3/4 cups | all purpose flour |
| 2 teaspoons | baking powder |
| 1 teaspoon | salt |
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In mixing bowl cream butter with sugAr until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix flour, baking soda and salt; add to butter mixture 1 cup at a time. Do not chill dough. Roll out 1/8 inch thick and cut with cutter. Dip cutters in flour first. Bake for 6-7 minutes.
