Broiled Leg of Lamb

1 good size leg of lamb, boned and butterflied. | |
1 cup | red wine |
1/2 cup | orange juice |
1 1/4 cups | water, (1/4 for the marinade and 1 cup for later) |
3 tbsp | olive oil |
2 tbsp | ketchup |
2 cloves | garlic, sliced |
1 tsp | salt |
3/4 tsp | oregano |
1/8 tsp | pepper |
1 large | onion, sliced |
2 tsp | dk brown sugar |
1/4 cup | flour |
cup of water from above
Place lamb in large bowl and add all except the brown sugar, flour and cup water.
Marinate overnight or for at least a few hours
Grill for 50 minutes, turning every 10 minutes. After the first 30 minutes, add the onions.
When done, remove from oven and let stand on carving board well covered to retain heat for 10 minutes.
Make sauce by stirring in the flour and brown sugar. Then add the cup of water. Cook.
Slice lamb and serve with sauce
