Lentil Soup

For 8 to 10 hours in slow cooker
    2 cups  dry lentils, rinsed
    1 cup  chopped carrots
    1 cup  chopped onion
    1 cup  chopped celery
    2 to 3 cloves  garlic, peeled
    1 to 2  bay leaves
    ½ teaspoon  salt
    ½ teaspoon  dried marjoram
    ¼ teaspoon  white pepper
    1 (10.5-ounce) can  vegetable broth

Put the lentils in the slow cooker. Add the remaining ingredients, including 6 cups water and cover with the lid. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Adjust the seasonings with additional salt and pepper, if necessary. Remove and discard the bay leaves before serving.
