Red velvet cake

1/2 cup | butter |
2 | eggs |
1 bottle | red food coloring, (2 oz.) |
1 tsp. | Salt |
1 cup | buttermilk |
1 1/2 cups | sugar |
2 heaping tsp. | Cocoa |
2 1/4 cup | cake flour |
1 tsp. | Baking soda |
1 tbsp. | Vinegar |
In large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar, mix in eggs.
Make paste of food coloring and cocoa, then add mixture in bowl.
Preheat oven to 350*. mix flour and salt, then add a portion at a time alternating wi buttermilk to cake batter. Mix soda and vinegar, add to batter. After this addition, quickly pour into two 9" round cake pans and place in oven to cook approximate 25-30 mins. Let cool 15 mins then remove from pans turning upside down an wax paper. Use sewing thread to slice each cak in half making 4 layers total
