Source:

    3 cups  tap water
1-1/2 cups  dry quick cooking oatmeal
1/4 to 1/3 cup  finely chopped walnuts
    1/4 cup  raisins, (optional)
    1/2 teaspoon  salt
    Dash  cinnamon
1/4 cup  maple flavored Pancake Syrup

Bring the water to a boil in a 2-quart saucepan. Gradually stir in the oatmeal. Add the walnuts, raisins, salt, cinnamon and Pancake Syrup. Cook and stir the mixture for about 2 minutes. Cover the oatmeal and remove the pot from the heat. Allow the mixture to sit for 5 to 10 minutes to finish cooking. Serve hot with milk and brown sugar if desired.

To use old-fashioned oatmeal instead, replace the quick cooking oatmeal with an equal amount of old-fashioned oats. All of the other measurements remain the same. Cook the oatmeal for 5 full minutes and serve hot with milk and margarine.
