Basic Vinegar Sauce

2 C | cider vinegar |
1 C | ketchup |
1/2 C | hot sauce, (Franks) |
2 T | salt |
2 T | black pepper |
1 T | crushed red pepper flakes |
1/2 C | sugar |
6-8 drops | Worcestershire sauce |
1 tsp | liquid smoke, (hickory) - optional |
Combine vinegar, ketchup, and hot sauce in pot over medium heat.
Pour in remaining ingredients and stir until dissolved. Do not boil.
This sauce can be a bit spicy. Reduce hot sauce to 1/4 C and omit pepper flakes if serving to people that don’t like a lot of heat.
