1/2 pound | softened butter |
3/4 cup | granulated sugar |
1 | egg |
1 tsp. | Baking Soda1 tsp. Cream of Tartar |
3 cups | all purpose flour |
1 tsp. | Vanilla |
1 jar | raspberry jam |
Icing | |
1 cup | icing sugar |
1-1/2-2 T. | Milk |
Maraschino cherries to decorate
Method
Cream softened butter. Beat in sugar and egg. In a separate bowl, sift dry ingredients together and stir into the creamed mixture gradually. Add vanilla.
Roll the dough out thin (1/4 inch) on a floured surface and cut into desired size circles.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes, (don't let the edges get brown)
Cool on wire racks
When cool make a sandwich using a dollop of jam.
For glaze, combine icing sugar with milk. Ice the tops of cookies and decorate with a piece of cherry.
